Aren’t there enough conferences already?

Grace Baptist Partnership didn’t set out to have an annual conference. However, it happened. Here’s how. Before the Partnership was formed I used to teach one Saturday a month in London and another Saturday a month in Leicester. Each year we would have one day where the two groups met together either in London or in Leicester.

When the Partnership was formally launched in early 2010 the two groups met together in London for a day of teaching with Gareth Crossley and John Benton. This was repeated in 2011 with John McDonald and Geoff King providing the ministry.

By 2012 the men were requesting that we spread the teaching over a few days. Jeff Noblit and Ali McLachlan were enlisted to help with this as we met for three days at what is now called The Angel Church. This pattern continued in 2013 and 2014.

By 2015 the numbers attending was stretching the building in Angel and the cost and time involved for people coming into and out of Central London three consecutive days was putting a strain on the budget of more than a few people.

So, in 2015 we had our first residential conference with Mark Dever and Jeff Noblit joining us to speak about Nine Marks of a Healthy Church. We wondered last year if the lack of an overseas speaker might mean that the numbers of people attending might dip. Quite the opposite, they increased yet again.

This year we are poised to take yet another step forward as the Euro Evangelism Conference (that’s a story in and of itself!) will meet jointly with us as we explore the theme of Spirit Empowered Preaching. The conference is 22-24 August 2017 at Swanwick.

Will you pray for those preaching that they will model and inspire preaching in the power of the Holy Spirit? Will you pray for those attending that they will receive the word with joy?

Will you consider attending yourself – online registration opens soon – to enjoy worship and fellowship with God’s people from across the United Kingdom – and beyond?

Warmly in Christ
