Month of Prayer and Giving Day 27 – Third Choice?

| March 27, 2017 | 0 Comments

Those familiar with the process for appointing a leader for the work in Walthamstow, will know that ‘Wale Akinrogunde was not the first person considered for the post. Truth be told he wasn’t even the second. Two other men had the opportunity to take up the post before deciding for different reasons not to do so. It was only then that ‘Wale was interviewed and subsequently offered the post. Does that mean he was our third choice? Not at all.

“And Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel. And Samuel said to Jesse, “The Lord has not chosen these.” Then Samuel said to Jesse, “Are all your sons here?” And he said, “There remains yet the youngest, but behold, he is keeping the sheep.” And Samuel said to Jesse, “Send and get him, for we will not sit down till he comes here.” And he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy and had beautiful eyes and was handsome. And the Lord said, “Arise, anoint him, for this is he.” Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers. And the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon David from that day forward. And Samuel rose up and went to Ramah.” 1 Samuel 16.10-13

‘Wale wasn’t the third choice any more than David was the eighth! As anyone who was present at his interview or has seen him at work in his new role can attest he is definitely the one the Lord chose for this task from the beginning.

Will you pray for ‘Wale today as he leads the work of Grace Church Walthamstow? Will you ask the Lord to help him as he balances his time between his service at Walthamstow and part-time studies at London Seminary?

Will you pray for his wife Ibidunni and their sons Jisere (11) and Jisola (6)? Will you ask the Lord to give them a happy home life?

Will you pray for the ongoing ministry at Walthamstow including the regular evangelistic work being carried out by a band of brothers from Grace Baptist Partnership and Home Mission?

Will you ask the Lord to continue to raise up men for use in His service?
