Grace Extends in Chatteris

Grace Extends in Chatteris

The Fens are not exactly England’s Bible Belt. There are places where the word of God is faithfully preached but not nearly as many as there once were. Here is an update on how grace is extending in one of the high points of that region – Chatteris.

Local church life is often a mixture of sadness and gladness. The challenge is not to get too low in challenging times and not to get too high in times of blessing and encouragement. The friends at Chatteris – now meeting together for almost a decade – have learned these lessons well. In so doing, they have become a useful example to others.

Recently, they have been greatly saddened by the departure of three of their members. Losing members is never easy. But when you are a small church to start with the loss is felt even more. Please pray they will continue to plod on in the present and to plan for the future.

They approach the immediate future with eager anticipation. Their old friend, Daniel Shwe, is returning to help them on a weekly basis with evangelism from May till August. The last time Daniel helped them in this way was a time of great mutual encouragement. They even had a go at teaching Daniel some Cockney rhyming slang!

Do pray that his time with the church – he is presently serving alongside the churches at Linslade and Southall – will be blessed indeed. Pray that the church will be built up spiritually and numerically. Pray that grace will extend in the Fens to the glory of God.

“For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.” 2 Corinthians 4:15
