Grace Extends in Hitchin

Grace Extends in Hitchin

After a lengthy period of time without a pastor Grace Baptist Church Hitchin invited Tom Forryan to become their pastor last year. Here is an account of how grace is extending in this Hertfordshire town.

Things don’t always work to plan, do they?

Tom and Lucy Forryan planned to serve the Lord in Paris, France. When that door didn’t open, they needed to consider if the Lord might have something else for them.

So last autumn Tom took up the pastorate of Grace Baptist Church Hitchin. In addition to providing pastoral care and oversight for the congregation, he has engaged in door to door evangelism, and given a series of evangelistic messages – If you could ask God one question.

A week of evangelism is being planned for June in which church members – assisted by friends from Grace Baptist Partnership-related churches – will seek to bring the gospel to Hitchin through evangelistic meetings and outreach.

To say that Hitchin is not Paris would be a massive understatement. But there are some similarities. God’s people wherever they are need to be taught the Scriptures and cared for. Those who are lost – whether in a French city or an English town – need to hear the gospel and be challenged to follow Christ.

Please pray that Tom – and others – will continue to recognise the good hand of God in bringing him to Hitchin. Pray that their outreach efforts will result in many new followers of Jesus Christ. Pray that the cause of the gospel in Hitchin will flourish.

And, don’t forget to pray for Paris.

“For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.” 2 Corinthians 4:15
