Month of Prayer and Giving Day 19- Deeply Hurt and Greatly Blessed

Month of Prayer and Giving Day 19- Deeply Hurt and Greatly Blessed

“And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”
1 Peter 5:10 ESV

Not many writers are quoted as often as A.W. Tozer. One of his most familiar quotes goes something like this:
“It is doubtful whether God can bless a man greatly until He has hurt him deeply.”

If I’m honest, though, I often wince when I hear this quote. Especially when it is quoted blithely by someone who knows little of the reality of it in personal experience.

It’s a good – largely true – quote, nonetheless.

Regan King has known deep hurt in his young life. He knows what it is like to see his wife forsake her commitment to the Lord and her covenant with him. He knows what it is like to witness the death of a co-worker while serving the Lord in Iraq.
He knows what it is like to face disappointment as professing Christians ‘go wobbly’ over the most pressing social issues of the day – abortion and homosexuality.

But, by God’s grace – and not a little grit – Regan is pressing on and knowing in increasing measure blessing from the Lord.

Please pray for him as he continues to serve the Lord at Angel. Ask the Lord to help him to preach effectively and to continue faithfully discipling the members of the church. Ask the Lord to bless the ongoing evangelistic outreach into the area each Wednesday aided by his old friend, Daniel Shwe.

Please pray also for his involvement in the work of Grace Church, Walthamstow. Please pray that these two works will continue to be mutually encouraging.

Please pray also for his ongoing work at Christian Concern particularly as he leads an anti-abortion initiative and represents the organisation on the issue in various forums.

May the Lord indeed greatly bless his deeply hurt servant in the years to come.

“Therefore we ought to support people like these, that we may be fellow workers for the truth.”
3 John 8 ESV
