Month of Prayer and Giving Day 29- Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch
“He went on his way through towns and villages, teaching and journeying toward Jerusalem.”
Luke 13:22 ESV
Jesus taught in villages. Pause for a moment and take that in. Jesus taught in villages. That never ceases to amaze me.
There are thousands of villages large and small across the United Kingdom. The Welsh village referenced in my title has the longest name and for me is the most difficult to pronounce. It’s all I can do to get my head – and tongue – around Strathmiglo, Scotland!
I have – though with some effort – done so. Why would I know about a village in rural north Fife? Because Andrew Lolley who serves at Grace Baptist Church in Perth lives there. But he does more than live there. He is seeking to reach the village and the surrounding area with the gospel of Christ.
Helped by a number of brothers in preaching and leading, he has organised a monthly outreach service in this village of around 1,000 people. And, would you believe, there have been encouragements. People have actually come. Some have even indicated the outreach efforts in the area are an answer to prayer.
Who knows where this will lead?
Please pray for Andrew and Jill Lolley today as they continue the work of church revitalisation in Perth. Please ask the Lord to give them new measures of strength as they also seek to reach people in the village where they live. Please pray for co-labourers in these worthy endeavours.
What about where you live? Are there people living there who need to hear the gospel? Maybe you should consider – in fellowship with others – doing something about that.
I’ll try hard not to be too proud of myself for learning how to say Strathmiglo. I’m just thankful the Lolley’s didn’t move to nearby Auchtermuchty!
“Therefore we ought to support people like these, that we may be fellow workers for the truth.”
3 John 8 ESV
