Partnership Update – July 2013

GROWING LEADERS

Bury

The brothers meeting at Bury will resume their monthly gatherings on Saturday, 7th of September.

Do you know anyone who would be interested in joining us? Please have them get in touch.

Chelmondiston

The brothers meeting at Chelmondiston will meet on Saturday, 27th of July to continue their study of Soteriology. Please pray for David Kelland as he leads this group.

Westerleigh

I look forward to meeting with the brothers at Westerleigh on Saturday, 20th of July as we conclude our study of the Doctrine of the Holy Spirit by exploring the practical implications of our beliefs on this subject  in the life of a local church.

Wood Green

The next big event for our London training group is our annual conference 29th – 31st of August.  Our theme is “Left on Crete:  Ministry on a Leaderless and Lawless Island”. Jeremy Walker will lead us step by step through Paul’s letter to Titus.  Jeff Noblit will speak on elders, small group discipleship and church discipline. I will speak on preaching and leadership.  It would be a great blessing if you could join us. These meetings are open to all.

PLANTING CHURCHES

Angel

It was good to share a meal and a time of Bible study and fellowship with the friends at Angel this past Sunday evening. I am encouraged by their steadfast commitment to the work the Lord has given them to do in a spiritually needy part of London.

Charlwood

I hope you will remember to pray for Daniel Shwe as he is doing door to door evangelism in Charlwood this summer. We long to see good contacts and gospel conversations lead to many conversions to faith in Christ.

Chatham

We enjoyed coming alongside two churches in Chatham over the past few months to help them with distributing gospel literature and setting up evangelistic Bible studies. The friends at one of the churches were encouraged by the conversion of a lady who regularly attended the studies.

Chatteris

Would you continue to remember Jackie Read in prayer as she awaits an operation for ovarian cancer in the coming weeks? Remember the friends here as they continue to prayerfully look for a more permanent meeting place.

Chelmondiston

It was good to see the Kellands at the meeting in North Watford recently and to be reminded of the Lord’s goodness to them over the past year. Please continue to pray for the Lord to bless their efforts with conversions.

Chingford

Please remember the evangelistic efforts of Bernard Roberts and Kester Putman in and around Chingford. May I ask you to continue to support Bernard’s weekly preaching ministry with your prayers as well?

Dorchester

Though Fred Serjeant’s retirement (at 85!) and forthcoming move to Bridport has brought the present work at Dorchester to an end, please continue to pray for the establishment of a gospel work in Dorchester as well as in other needy parts of Dorset.

Edlesborough

To see three octogenarians from Edlesborough on the front row at the recent joint service in North Watford was a tremendous blessing. We are thankful for the faithfulness of those who meet week to week for worship and through the week for Bible study and fellowship. May the Lord bless His work in Edlesborough.

Grays

Please pray for the friends at Grays as they look to take full advantage of the gospel opportunities afforded them this summer.

Halling

A special service to celebrate the settlement of Kevin Felix Hollington and his family among the friends at Halling will be held Saturday, 27th of July at 3:00pm. Please pray especially for me as I prepare to preach God’s word. It would be helpful for catering purposes if you would let the church know you will be attending. You can do this by emailing Raquel Palomo-Garcia rakelpalomo@hotmail.co.uk.

Halstead

Are you planning to help the friends at Halstead with their church work day this Saturday? If so, drop a line to Graham Field gfield85@gmail.com to let him know you are coming.

Needingworth

We are pleased to continue our involvement at Needingworth. Please pray for the Lord to provide the friends here a pastor. In the meantime, they are appreciative of the ongoing support of Robert Read.

North Watford

It was a joy to worship the Lord with a crowded congregation at North Watford on Saturday, 29th of June.  I was pleased to preach God’s word and the congregation was able to divide into groups to pray for church planting work underway in 15 different locations.  It was a special joy to be able to present the wives of the church planters in attendance with books to encourage their ministry in the home and church. The friends at North Watford (as always!) did a great job of hosting us.

Sonning Common

Please pray for the friends at Caversham Evangelical Church as they continue to work in Sonning Common and to look for a worker to come and live and serve in the village.

Southall

The friends at Southall are looking forward to Sonny Simak beginning to serve the Lord full-time as an evangelist from the first week in August. Please pray for the spiritual effectiveness of his ministry in Southall and beyond.

Wood Green

The friends at Wood Green are thankful to the Lord to support one of our students with our prayers and financial support as she goes out with a GBM team to serve the Lord in India this summer.

Workington

I reported in error last month that the Workington weekend of evangelism was the 17th – 18th of August.

Actually, it is meant to be the 24th – 25th. Do let me know as soon as possible if you are able to join us. In the meantime, please continue to pray for the ongoing work in this area of great gospel opportunity.

REACHING NATIONS

Germany

By all accounts, Ali McLachlan’s recent trip to Germany was especially blessed of the Lord. Thank you for your prayers.  It appears the Lord is working in Austria as well. An Austrian man who desires training as a church planter is planning to move to Wetzlar and the need for offering training in Austria itself is being prayerfully researched. We look to the Lord to provide the men and means to forward His purposes.

Scotland

Would you join us in prayer for the friends at Grace Baptist Church in West Edinburgh as they begin a week of evangelism this weekend?

Wales

It appears the Lord may be hearing the prayers of many for a new opening for the gospel in North Wales. Please watch this space.

Week of Prayer and Giving

We will send a prayer guide by email to each of you the last week of July to encourage your involvement in our week of prayer and giving 4th – 11th of August. We trust the Lord will use this week in a great way to strengthen our joint efforts to grow leaders, plant churches and reach nations.

If you want more frequent updates on the progress of Grace Baptist Partnership, you can join 500+ friends who have ‘liked’ the Grace Baptist Partnership Facebook page and receive regular updates via their Facebook news feed.

As always your prayers and financial support are greatly appreciated.

Warm regards in Christ,

Barry King
