Month of Prayer and Giving Day 8 – Gospel Ripple Effects

Month of Prayer and Giving Day 8 – Gospel Ripple Effects

One of the joys of sustained gospel ministry is the opportunity to observe the continuing and spreading results of past events or actions.

In 2010 I had the opportunity to serve as locum pastor of Titmuss Avenue Baptist Church in Thamesmead. During my time there, I baptised – among others – Chola Mukanga and ‘Wale Akinrogunde. Last year the church sent Chola and his family to lead a church revitalisation effort at Bexleyheath and ‘Wale and his family to lead a church replanting work in Walthamstow. What wonderful gospel ripple effects.

Likewise, other churches we have served in the past are now serving others. The church at Angel is overseeing the work at Walthamstow. The church at Edlesborough is overseeing the work at Leagrave. The church at Halling is overseeing the work at Ryarsh. The church at Southall is overseeing the work at Beech Hill. The church in West Edinburgh is overseeing the work in North Edinburgh. The ripple effects continue.

Sometimes these effects even spread to other countries. I had the privilege of visiting Israel recently with my oldest son. Our primary purpose was to visit Antony Coles and his fiancée, Reena. Antony served at Edlesborough while he was studying at London Theological Seminary. He is now studying in Israel in hopes of serving the Lord there long-term.

Will you praise the Lord today for these gospel ripple effects? Will you pray that each of these men and the ministries in which they are involved will continue to flourish? Will you pray that these churches now involved in planting, replanting and revitalising other churches will continue to mature according to God’s plan?

Will you pray especially for Antony and Reena as they prepare for a lifetime of marriage and ministry? Will you ask the Lord to give them clear guidance concerning their future service for the Lord? Will you ask the Lord to provide for their every need?

Will you attempt something for the gospel today that may have ripple effects in the years to come?

Warmly in Christ Jesus
